Politecnico di Milano PoliMOVE Team is proud of the third place obtained in the final ranking of the Indy Autonomous Challenge, the world's first self-driving race car competition that took place Saturday 23 October in Indianapolis.
The team, coordinated by Prof. Sergio Savaresi of the Dipartimento di Elettronica, Informazione e Bioingegneria, made it to the final heat together with the Technische Universität Munchen (TUM) team and the Università di Modena e Reggio Emilia (UniMoRe) Euroracing team.
Right after reaching the top speed ever for a self-driving race car on a circuit (157 mph), PoliMOVE's Dallara AV-21 was abruptly stopped by a technical fault involving the GPS and the control ECU.
"It’s a bitter conclusion when we were so close to a possible victory but we are proud and happy of all our work", says Prof. Savaresi on behalf of the team. "Thanks to all who helped us, in particular to our main sponsors e-Novia and our supporting sponsors Fluentis and Movyon".
